Union welcomes a new pastor Pastor Joel Folkemer has been named as Union's new pastor with his wife Ashlee, son Jacob and daughter Allyson. Also their two dogs a miniature poodle named Cal and a golden-doodle named Maisie. Pastor Folkemer has two younger siblings a sister Margaret and brother Nathan.
Pastor Folkemer grew up in Gettysburg where both his parents are ordained pastors in the ELCA. His grandfather was the Rev. Gordon Folkemer who served for 40 years at St. Matthews in York, PA. Pastor Folkemer attended Shippensburg University and majored in Human Communication Studies. He minored in history and music.
Growing up he was involved with a number of different sports playing baseball at Shippensburg University. He's an avid Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates fan, as well as a Steelers and Penguins fan.
Pastor Folkemer continues his involvement with music and plays the bass and sings. He plays in the family's Celtic band and American Folk Music band.
Pastor Folkemer attended Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and became interested in and began to sense a call towards redevelopment/renewal ministry.
Union welcomes Pastor Folkemer and his family and looks forward to working with him as partners in God's mission in this place and time.
Sunday, July 27th at 11 am there will be an outdoor worship service at Grateful Acres, the home of Mahlon and Dorothy Stambaugh. The service will be followed by a covered dish luncheon bring a favorite dish to share. The Church will supply the paper goods and a ham. There is a pool and a pond so bring your swimming suit if you wish. Call the Church for directions to Grateful Acres or look for them in the July issue of "Table Talk". Call the Church if you need a ride.
Please note that in case of rain the service will be at 11am at the Church with a covered dish lunch following the service.
