Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into His presence with singing.
Psalm 100: 1-2
come into His presence with singing.
Psalm 100: 1-2
The music ministry of Union Lutheran is committed to leading God’s people in worship. Every note of every song is an offering to the glory of God, a thanksgiving for God's amazing love and grace. At Union, we worship in a traditional style that incorporates music from many genres and cultures. It's not uncommon to hear the music of J.S Bach and jazz or gospel in the same worship service. The eclectic nature of music in worship reflects the musical heritage of our congregation and the diverse community that we serve.
There are opportunities for EVERYONE to be in music ministry at Union. God has given each of us a song to sing!
Adult Music Ministry
Choir
The Choir shares anthems in worship and leads congregational singing for Sunday morning services and special Liturgical services. This choir is open to adult and high-school aged singers who want to praise God through the gift of song! The choir sings a wide variety of music while growing together in our faith and using our gifts to share the Good News of Jesus with others. The choir rehearses each the 1, 2, 4 & 5 Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM - 8:30pm. The ability to read music is always helpful, but not at all necessary. Contact Matthew Wensel for more information! |
Men's Ensemble and Women's Ensemble
The Men's Ensemble and Women's Ensemble of Union are special groups that share their musical gifts in worship every few months. The groups meet for a few rehearsals before singing in worship. Since these ensembles do not rehearse regularly, these are perfect ministry opportunities for persons who can not commit to the regular rehearsal schedule of the Transept Choir. Contact Matthew Wensel for more information! Also, check out the weekly bulletin, Crumbs from the Table, and the monthly newsletter for rehearsal schedules when they are available. |
Solos, Duets, and Ensembles
Throughout the church year, many soloists and small groups share music in worship. These musicians, both vocal and instrumental, help to share God's word through their musical offering. If you have gifts for this ministry, please contact Matthew Wensel. |
Musical Outreach Ministries
The musicians of Union Lutheran are committed to use music as a tool for mission and outreach. If you see opportunities for musical outreach, please share your ideas with our musicians. Let's work together to share the Good News of Jesus with our neighbors as we grow together in Christ. |
Children and Youth Music Ministry
Children's Music
The children gather with Mr. Matt in the downstairs Sunday School room at 10:55 AM every Sunday. We start with a few VBS style songs of praise. After that, we have brief period of worship where we explore the lesson for the day, pray, take an offering, then briefly learn song in an “anthem” style that we’ll share in a future worship service. We want every child to learn to praise God through song. Not every child will choose to sing in worship, which is perfectly ok. |
Children's Outreach Ministry
Mr. Matt and other volunteers from the music ministry lead music at the monthly Community Dinner and Community Breakfast. Children are invited to come to the front of the Sunday School Auditorium play instruments, sing, move, and praise God together in a fun and safe environment.

Youth Music
There is not currently a youth choir at Union. Youth-aged musicians are encouraged to sing with the Men's and Women's ensembles and participate by sharing special music. Hopefully, as our children become youth, we'll be able to continue our ministry together by providing more formal opportunities for youth.
