Who is Union?

Union Evangelical Lutheran Church is located at 408 West Market Street in York, PA and is made up of an urban congregation with members from the city and its surrounding communities.  We are a congregation who loves God and strives to share that love with our neighbors through Worship, Faith Formation, Service, Fellowship, and other forms of ministry and community involvement. We strive to be a church in the neighborhood, and of the neighborhood.

We celebrate the gifts that God has given all people, and we know that together we are stronger.  We invite you to join us in our worship and ministry here at Union, so that we can use all of our gifts to love and serve God and our community.

Who is Welcome at Union?

We at Union Lutheran Church believe that we are called to share the good news of Jesus with our neighbors, as we grow together in Christ. We welcome everyone seeking God’s love and grace to participate fully no matter what you look like, where you’re from, whom you love, how much money you have, or whatever other labels we use to divide ourselves. We welcome all gender identities, gender expressions, sexual orientations, ages, races, abilities, and socio-economic statuses, because God welcomes all, and our unity is in Jesus Christ.
In order to further demonstrate our dedication to support our LGBTQ+ siblings, Union Lutheran is one of many Reconciling in Christ
congregations.

Guiding Principles

To help us focus on God's purpose for us, we have 7 Guiding Principles:
  1. Jesus is Lord - All that we do is focused on following Jesus.
  2. Prayer - We will be a community rooted in prayer in our life together.
  3. Scripture - We will seek a better understanding of God's will for us through studying the Bible.
  4. Worship - We will keep worship at the center of all that we do.
  5. Service/Servanthood - We will love and care for our neighbors following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  6. Stewardship - We will be faithful stewards of what God has placed in our hands.
  7. Relationships - We will seek to grow in relationship with God, each other, and our neighbors.
